Last weekend, members of Dominate Wrestling showcased their skills at two tournaments. At the Miles Wrestling Productions event in Mesa, the team claimed numerous victories. Dietrich Foose and Xander Poulin each won two first-place awards, while others like Benjamin Steward, Roland Fields, Penelope Soto, Timothy Platt, Skylar Soto, Oliver Leitz, and Alfie Steward secured placements from second to seventh.
Additionally, in Texas, Isabella Huber took first place and Kawika Freeman grabbed second in the Juggernaut Firebird Inferno Individual event.
Diego Alvarez, a former Sahuarita High School baseball player, from the Class of 2022, is set to play baseball at the University of New Mexico after previously playing at Eastern Arizona College.
The Sahuarita Sidewinders 10u baseball team is seeking more players, especially experienced catchers and utility players. Interested individuals can contact 520-548-4111.
The Sahuarita Stingrays hosted the Copper Classic swim meet, where Daniel Shapiro and Carissa Palomarez claimed the prestigious Copper Cup.
Walden Grove swimmer Daniel Shapiro earned recognition as a 2023 Tucson Swim All Star in multiple events based on his outstanding performances.
Moving on to volleyball, several Sahuarita High School softball players received honors from the AIA in the 4A Gila region. Sophia Alvarez, Payton Zenan, Sophia Ortiz, Anya Merten, Addison Gilvin, Alyanna Barraza, and Luna Velarde were recognized for their contributions to the team.
Regarding football, the Arizona Interscholastic Association honored several Sahuarita High Mustangs players. Joe Thomas and Rafa Arzate-Villa earned first-team honors, while Santiago Caudillo, Wyatt Dahl, Alden Fox, Hayden Niedt, and William Thwaits received second-team recognition in various positions.
