In 1952, he answered the call to serve his country and joined the Army, rising to the rank of Sergeant and serving as a Medic during the Korean War. In 1956, Bill married his hometown sweetheart, Marilyn, marking the beginning of a 67-year journey together. Bill pursued higher education, graduating in Industrial Arts and Mathematics from Indiana State University in 1957. His dedication to learning and teaching set the stage for a remarkable career.
A Teacher’s Legacy
In 1960, Bill and Marilyn settled in Greenfield, IN, where Bill dedicated 33 years of his life to teaching mathematics at Greenfield-Central High School. His impact on generations of students resonates to this day, with many remembering him as an inspiring educator.
Retirement and Pursuits in Green Valley, AZ
In 2005, Bill and Marilyn retired to Green Valley, AZ, where they embraced a new chapter of life. Bill found joy in various activities, including golf, billiards, shuffleboard, and basketball. He showcased his competitive spirit by participating in the Senior Olympics, proving that age was no barrier to staying active.
Community Involvement
Bill’s commitment to community extended beyond his professional life. He became a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6842 while attending Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Green Valley. His involvement in community initiatives highlighted his belief in the importance of contributing to the well-being of those around him.
Family Man and Master Woodcrafter
